First week in Quail Creek 11/24/14

Hey Everyone!

Holy cow, I'm not really sure where to begin with this one! It feels like last Monday was a couple of months ago. I left Lawton on Wednesday after saying some short goodbyes on Tuesday. It's been an amazing seven and a half months in Lawton and I have enjoyed it all! We got to transfers in OKC at around 10:00, met my new companion Elder Rumsey, who is awesome by the way but I'll tell you more about him later on. We then drove to our District Leaders apartment, where he fed us cinnamon roll pancakes, which tasted great, not gonna lie. Afterwards we got to our apartment, got some things situated, and started to visit less actives and tract around the area. We walked into an area with only 2 investigators, 1 of which had moved and was awaiting return. We have a lot of work to do, and I am so excited to be able to have a part in it!

The Quail Creek ward is awesome! We spoke in sacrament meeting last Sunday and it went well! The members are missionary oriented, and we are expecting a lot of referrals as we gain the trust of the members. We're showing them that we are here to work hard, and we are willing to become friends with those they want to bring to the gospel.

Elder Rumsey is a very motivated missionary. He loves to work, and he isn't afraid to go out into the rain to get some tracting done on bikes. He will be entering the Marine Corps as well, so you can imagine that we get along quite well. He's a bit quiet, but I'm willing to bet that his shell will be broken soon. He's a great teacher (he's been out for 17ish months now).

So this library doesn't like people who have guest passes, so my time is nearly up. Next week I'll have a library card, so I will have more time to do this.

All I can say is that I am excited to be here so that I can work hard. I love this gospel and the message of peace that it has for all of God's children.

I love you all,

Elder Holbrook
